What Is a Battery Energy
Storage System (BESS)?

A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) stores electrical energy, generated by a solar plant or drawn from the grid during low-tariff hours, inside battery banks for use whenever you need it most. Instead of surplus solar power going unused or a home, office or factory losing power during a power cut, a BESS releases stored energy on demand, whether that is the evening, a grid outage or a high-tariff peak period.
A simple example: an IT campus, government building or hospital generates solar power during the day while critical loads continue around the clock. Excess solar can charge the battery, which can later support server rooms, essential government systems, ICU and OT loads, diagnostics or evening demand during outages and peak-load periods.
