Before investing in another large diesel generator, evaluate a 10.03 MWh-class Battery Energy Storage System.
The Hoymiles HoyPrime can be evaluated for large commercial, industrial and utility-scale applications where battery energy storage can reduce or replace diesel-generator dependence, subject to the site's electrical load, backup duration and system design.
Instead of: Diesel → Engine → Generator → Load, you can evaluate: Grid / Solar → HoyPrime BESS → Critical Load, with the DG retained as an added layer where a hybrid configuration makes sense.
A traditional DG generates power through a diesel engine. HoyPrime stores electrical energy and delivers it when required, with the DG retained where a hybrid setup makes sense.
This lets businesses move toward battery-based backup while retaining the DG for extended-outage requirements where necessary.
Businesses operating large DG systems commonly face a familiar set of challenges.
A BESS provides a fundamentally different approach: instead of generating electricity through a diesel engine, it stores electrical energy and delivers it when required.
The approximately 10.03 MWh HoyPrime battery container can be evaluated for large facilities requiring substantial energy storage.

Not every site should immediately remove its DG. MSEB Power evaluates three possible strategies.
Considered where the required backup duration and load can be economically supported by BESS alone.
Solar energy is stored and used according to the project's energy-management strategy, reducing dependence on diesel generation in suitable applications.
The BESS handles selected backup and energy-management requirements, while the DG stays available for longer-duration outages, potentially reducing DG running hours, diesel consumption, generator wear and fuel requirements. Actual savings depend on the site's load and operating conditions.
The answer depends on your electrical requirement. MSEB Power evaluates the following before recommending a configuration.
A 10.03 MWh battery does not automatically mean 10.03 MWh of usable backup energy for every project. Usable energy depends on the final system configuration, operating limits, efficiency, state-of-charge limits and other design factors. The project must be properly engineered before replacing a DG.
Conceptually, here is how the nominal storage capacity relates to load, before system losses and other operating constraints.
Theoretical energy duration at a constant 1 MW facility load.
Theoretical energy duration at a constant 2 MW facility load.
Theoretical energy duration at a constant 5 MW facility load.
Before purchasing another DG, it helps to compare the complete lifecycle cost, not just the purchase price.

MSEB Power does not recommend selecting a BESS simply based on the size of your existing DG. For example, an existing DG of 5,000 kVA does not automatically mean a 5 MW BESS. The DG and BESS have different characteristics, and sizing must consider these five factors.
How much instantaneous power is required, in kW / MW.
How much stored energy is required, in kWh / MWh.
How long must the critical loads operate, in minutes or hours.
Does the entire facility need backup, or only selected loads.
How electricity demand changes throughout the day.
